Thousands of family histories are stored in the "Shidoden" (the remembrance & prayer hall).

After an arduously steep and winding route along the coast in the "Japanese Alps",
I rode through numerous tunnels and at long last was happy to once again breathe fresh mountain-air

Here in Hakuba were venues of the 1998 Nagano Olympic Games (Ski flying / cross-country skiing)

Hakuba lies at an altitude of approximately 820 m and reminds me of the mountains of the Tyrol

After a day off, I carried on over several mountain passes to Nagano

Sometimes I could read the signposts - but actually I've no idea what this sign says !
