Ika - squids drying into the sun

Who wouldn't want such a beautiful lantern in the garden ?

Typical room in a Ryokan. With the Tatami laid out one is only allowed to enter either barefoot or wearing socks.
The bed (futon) is removed from the closet and is made up before bedtime by the room-personnel and laid on the Tatami.
The shoes remain in the small lobby where one usually finds a toilet, sometime fitted with a shower.
A special chair (like a bookend), a low table with tea service, and green tea with hot water in a thermos flask are part of the
traditional service. There is almost always air conditioning with remote control, a gas oven and TV set. Towels and bathrobes are prepared for the visit to the O-Furo house.

A comfortable Shokudo (restaurant) with affordable dishes is usually found in close proximity
