In contrast to the rest of Japan here in Hokkaido: open countryside and relatively sparse population

Now and then, one meets a few Japanese long-distance-cyclists along the way like these students here from Sapporo

most of the time these colleges were carrying a hell of a lot of luggage. I even could not lift up these cycles for a test
I guess, it is not easy to pass narrow tunnels with that type of equipment ....
