Shortly
before arriving at "Jugokudani " (HELL VALLEY) close to Teshikaga |

Very popular destination despite smelling strongly of sulphur. The egg
sellers of "volcanically" cooked eggs offer their wares for
sale..
approximately 3 Euro per 5 eggs. They do good business but I'm told
that the eggs taste no different to ''normally'' cooked eggs |

It's not really clear to me what this lady is doing here with a shopping
bag.
The volcanically-cooked eggs are simply too expensive to buy in large
quantities |

In Lake Kussharoko close to Teshikaga. Im sitting here in a natural
hollow in hot water (approximately 42 degrees centigrade),
that comes volcanically-heated directly out of the ground below. The
lake itself is very cold! If you dig a hole in the sand directly on
the shore
(about 10 to 15 cm), you can stand with one foot in volcanically-heated
hot water and the other in the freezing cold lake |

On the trip to the legendary Lake Mashuko, slowly winding my way up
the mountain with great difficulty. There are remnants
of winter snow on the side of the road and I'm sweating despite the
biting cold wind. The hairpin bends seem to go on forever...!
